This song has accomplished the job of making my eyes brimmed with tears.
Again.
In comparison with Okay, it is not as sad/melancholic. But somehow the nostalgic melody the lyrics make my heart wrecked. I feel that it is the common characteristic of Inaba-3's solo works, always sad, but not the "I WANNA DIE" that kind of frivolous sadness,
something deeper. Mining for meaning amid the lyrical world of Koshi Inaba? LOL
The clouds vanished as they floated by Our faces are not the same as the past days You look a little bit thinner in my eyes But please don't worry, you are still beautiful
つらいことばかり 多すぎたなら 泣けるときに泣こう それが人だからね
There are too many troubles and turmoils we will encounter Cry if you can, because that's what humans are
There will be a hand of salvation reaching out from somewhere, right? Whoever's laughter and the warmth of hands on top of another What kind of words will leave a stain In that dessert-like arid heart of yours?
Koshi Inaba's long-anticipated new album 「Hadou」has been decided to be released!!
His newest single 「Okay」will be included in this album, as well as the Ending song for 「NEWS23X」(Now On-air) and the Ending song for the Anime "kekkaishi"「Akai Ito」which has not been released since 2006. All total of 15 songs will be featured in the album.
The bonus DVD for the limited edition will include a total of 11 PVs of his previous solo works.
I WONDER WHEN WILL I FINISH THIS LOR. AND I WONDER ANYONE WILL READ LOR. LOOK HOW BOLIAO AM I LOR. Very tired...So just 10 Anyway not arranged in any order.
Disclamation: My command of English language is extremely horrible; it isn’t my mother tongue so please do not FLAME at me.
Well I started listening Japanese music in 2007 when I came across B’z on MTV, kind of late huh. I was immediately CAPTIVATED by their ultimate and wild energy and of course, my Japanese music obsession officially kicked off. So here are some of my recommendations. As I am not really a big fan of JE, so I didn’t include them in my list since I know too little about them. Maybe what I recommend here may not be suitable for any Japanese music starters, but I wish if you ever read this, you will give a chance to all these tracks I’ve listed. They are all good.
1. DEEP KISS / B’z Well, I guess this is not their most famous one (now their most famous one is Ichibu to Zenbu LOL), but this is a song that really shows how fantastic this legendary J-ROCK band that debuted in 1988 with a total sales of 80 millions in Japan alone is. Tak’s guitar solo and Koshi’s signature shouts in this track are definitely amazing. It was released in 1997, a year where their hidden talents got a chance to shine free and unrestrained.
2. Sotsugyo / Yutaka Ozaki One of the most respected singers in the history (referring to Japan…) He is signified as the spirit of the young. He has not been forgotten despite his death in 1992. I love the way that his lyrics are written, I love the way how he performs on stage. This is one of his most controversial songs in the conservative 80s since it is about rebellion(?). If you have a chance, watch any live of his, you will be touched by his ALL-OUT performance.
3. Ginga / Fujifabric The PV is kinda surreal. Okay this is not my point. Actually they don’t really stand out in the midst of bands like Baseball bear and School food punishment since they are very similar in terms of style, all very British Rock-influenced. But this song is definitely a masterpiece. The retro melody blended with the surrealism of the lyrics and the PV, interesting combination.
4. Lillies and Remains / Moralist S.S. A J-Rock band that debuted last year with this song. In fact I was so shocked to know that it is actually a Japanese band... Their style is very western-influenced, so kind of innovative(?), recommend to those who want something new.
5. Akuma / Kiyoshi Ryuujin An insanely talented young singer that started his music career when he was 16 and debuted in 2009 with the single "morning sun". This song was included in the Album "WORLD" which was released in 2010/2. It is a funky one, with catchy drum beats. The chorus at the end of the track is simply outstanding. Anyway I think his unique voice really brought life to his works.
6. bukiyou na joukei / SPANK PAGE A band that I can't find any information LOL. There's nothing about them on Wikipedia. But so far from what I know, they are formed in 2004 and debuted in 2009. Their songs often reminded me of RADWIMPS, mellow and mysterious, probably Nakategawa (vo. of SP) sounded to similar to Noda (vo. of RADWIMPS).
7. Nijyuu-yon ji no laundry / Tomoyuki Nagasawa I fell in love with him immediately after listening to this song, and I bought his latest(?) mini album "silentsiren" although this song isn't included. His lyrics are good, very poetic. Somehow I really love mellow songs, not those ballads though. Again, I CANNOT FIND HIS INFO.
8. Give Me Body Sexy Body / URGH POLICE Okay I HAVE ENOUGH OF BANDS I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING ABOUT THEM. Hard Rock band formed in 1983 but disbanded. In my opinion (one-sided LOL), I think J-Rock is the best in the 80s - 90s. It sounded very different from what Kazuya Yoshii (b. the composer of this song) is doing now.
9. Milky way / LOUDNESS Do I need to say more? THE GREATEST METAL BAND IN THE 80s! THIS SONG JUST FUCKING KICK ASS. BUT SOME BRAIN-DEAD PEOPLE JUST DONT KNOW HOW TO APPRECIATE. 10. picture / Pay Money To My Pain Hard Rock Punk band debuted in 2004. One thing I like about them is that they can have songs that are really extremely negative, yet can they can have this kind of songs that really makes people happy. Not so fast tempo, but it is still good <3

^Live performance
Well, please forgive my Magma obsession, simply love this album to core. This song is one of my favorite in the album, and many people share the same idea as me too. The lyric is seriously unique, not fun to translate at all though. 臆病なマニアクリリックだね。
Sun is melting away like a jellyfish In that crimson and red sea I clutch your hands as though not to let you go any where Please don't move for a little while Until the throb of my heart is tranquilised
The stars starts to emerge from the growing darkness * You seem to be engulf by the ultramarine Starts to fade and disappear gradually I know From now on We can subsist on together no more
Like the waves of a tempestuous night I am intimidated by something that I can't see Here I stand bewildered at the front of the street Because I just began to realise of what I lost
Whether someone to rely on or someone to wait for me I want to lose them all I want to try being rooted by disorientation Being really left alone To ridicule and detest at my own cowardice
I am like the undulating waves Always swaying back and froth gently Peace and fidgety have not faded out yet Gazing at other people They still carry on Living on their own Thriving
僕が おぼれてるのは よけいなものの海なんだろうか…
Maybe what I am inebriated in is just an ocean filled with unnecessary things
まばたきほどの時に沈む 人を幸せにできる鍵があるという
In a twinkle is the key factor for a drowned person to achieve happiness
I want to try to love everything My arms are wide open I really want to embrace you tightly And then together we will drown in the bottomless sea of toleration

[Translation] Okay / Koshi Inaba
Quite a rush one, so bare with me if it is not that good. I just got the full song a few days ago, and I am really relieved: It sounds really good throughout the track. I don't know how am I supposed to describe the song :) IT IS SO GOOD. The lyric is the one that surprised me the most. Since the title of the song is "Okay", it should be something that is about "live on", but strangely, it is about a dead friend of yours. Although I don't have one, I am really moved by the sensitivity of the lyric. Somehow it reminds me of the award-winning movie "おくりびと"
Okay you are going to leave this world some day Enfolding blossoms in your arms that cannot be buried
Okay it will be good if you don't cry and not be intimidated
Everyone will die and everyone will be sorrowful
But glowing and flickering with great might at the same time
夕暮れ グランドに響く声 川面を滑る小石の影
That sound which resounded across the ground at dusk The reflection of that small stone which slipped on the surface of a river
誰かの不幸せの上に成り立つ暮らし(It's my life) 昔から気づいてるよ 変ちくりんな笑顏みせて歩いている僕は何者
This way of living established on other people's adversity (It's my life) I am conscious of that What's that aspect of me walking with such a peculiar smile?

[Translation] そのSwitchを押せ / Koshi Inaba
I don't think this song has been uploaded ANYWHERE, so no video for this one D: But if you really want the song, tell me, I can send you :) (I doubt if there's any LOL)
Again, same as 冷血 and くちびる, this song is too from the album "マグマ" If you ask me which is my favourite album of all times, I can tell you, "マグマ" will be my answer :)
そのSwitchを押せ is the third track of the album, a weird song, but extremely appealing to me :) The lyric is a bit surreal I guess? Not sure on how to phrase it. Okay in simple words, hard to translate again :(
----------------------------------
そのSwitchを押せ/稲葉浩志 sono Switch wo o se/Koshi Inaba
詞.曲 : 稲葉浩志
流れおちゆく涙に だれか気づいておくれ 窓辺でたそがれてるから あったかい声をかけてくれ
Who will take notice of the cascading tears? Soft callings are coming from the windowpanes Twilight is approaching
Why on earth are you being so jubilant? As if every thing's alright when your wounds stop to swell and slit open Take a rest doesn't sound that bad Then how about pressing that switch?
Even if I made a sudden repentance, I will be condoned with magnanimous gesture right? I will gain ultimate courage right? So why not try pressing that switch?
Wow yeah 小さな無数の分岐点に立ち 見えない無数のボタンを押してきた
Wow yeah Standing in the midst of countless of discrepancies And pressing countless of invisible intricate switches
There are situations where I am bogged down and regardless of right or wrong Whatever the alive self felt, like that, it will be the best if I could feel freedom Pondering over choices that differ by little All of these are chained to form happiness Then how about pressing that switch?
You need not be so careworn As everyone has a lot of similar vexations as well Start to accept the only truth and steel that kind of spirit yeah Whoever else devotes the best of his own ability for the sake of himself What he wants to gain again is just pleasure If this is a unrepeatable and unparalleled continuum Then how about pressing that switch?

[Translation] くちびる / Koshi Inaba
Hmm, a sexy song. くちびる means "lips" in Japanese, pronounced as "Kuchibiru" Koshi's live performance of this song is damn fucking alluring. Okay スッゲエロい, I can feel the hotness of this song whenever I listened to. Yup, my lousy translation again. Kindly point out my mistakes :) Thank you :)
Woman, gazing at me who can't even look into your eyes Oh woman, exhilarated due to the brewing repugnant Like a delicate animal running for survival, I am innocent I am simply impotent at the moment when you are at my side
あなたのくちびるなら骨までとろけてもいい 火が出るほど狂うほどに 肌と肌すりあわせて 夢の中
It's alright even your lips melt me right to the bones In a dream where skin rub against skin Like a fire bursting out from inside without sane
Hey Woman この世の理不尽を 優しく抱いて What a woman 答えられないクエスチョン ほほえみながら 投げかける
Hey woman, you embrace the unjustifiable of this world What a woman, you beamed and threw this unanswerable question to me

[Translation] 冷血 / Koshi Inaba
Long time since I last updated my blog. All this while I was trying to translate this piece of lyric. Yeah it's tough, but somehow I enjoyed answering this so-called 'test paper' given by Koshi :)
冷血, pronounced as Reiketsu in Japanese, means "Cold blooded/Cold blood" I was kind of shock when I came across the album that included this song. The title is "マグマ"(Magma), and somehow the tracks in the album kind of responded to the album title in one way or another. I would say it's pretty Indies, and I like it a lot, can see that this album is what Koshi really want to do, Jazz influenced rock, Bossa Nova, etc. Yes, the lyrics. It's...awesome, and really I mean it. One word: Maniac Most of the lyrics in the album are actually quite dark, but I like it, I mean it is so rare seeing his lyrics like that, isn't it?
By the way I am sadden by the fact that there are B'z fans who totally ignored Koshi's lyrics, and even regard his voice as irritating, gay and all sorts of nasty stuff. I mean, if there's no Koshi, Tak can forget on being famous, same thing applies to Koshi.
Anyway I will start my translation now, inform me if I have any mistakes, thanks :) It is really a difficult one to translate. I know the meaning but I just couldn't express the thoughts of despair that the song wants to convey.
You live in the way you wanted to I do what I desire Those who thirst to know what freedom really is It is just what fits with your mind Respect individuals and then liberate others Made a promise with solitary Never be angonised at others and win everyone's favourism Escape wisely will be the most important thing to do
While throwing away all the naive thoughts, walk here Can't realise what you lost Can't have a good beginning nor a good ending Forgetting everything one by one, At the same time merely dreamt on Souls who can't be coherent in or out(?) From now on they will...always...always
I am deeply obsessed with the song "Fake Lips".
In fact I fell in love with the entire album,
although it sounds out-dated to many.
The lyric is a mixture of English and Japanese,
which makes it very hard to picture
the actual meaning of the song.
And that is why Koshi was criticised
in the early years of his career as a lyricist.
But I think we can't blame him for that,
since he was so used to English songs
that he found it awkward to sing in his own native language.
---------------
Last Friday was awesome,
Wen Pin and I were singing "太陽のKOMACHI ANGEL",
A very nostalgic(?) kind of Japanese Dance Rock music in the 90s
that was featured in Gintama XD"
The song is extremely catchy, with such a distinctive title...
Well Koshi is famous for writing lyrics for songs with weird titles...
あの子は太陽の小町ANGEL!!!!!!!ANO KO WA TAIYOU NO KOMACHI ANGEL!!!! Man I want to sing this song for CIP on Tuesday D:
By the way,
I REALLY HATE AND DESPISE
PEOPLE WHO DISDAIN OLD MUSIC as if you have a much better taste in music than me.
During Library,
I showed Kylie Koshi's picture.
She was surprised that Koshi doesn't have botox
to look so young till this age.
And she said he is hot XD"
I love you Kylie <3
---------------
Hmm, I played with photoshop just now,
And this is my end product:
My new forum and twitter display picture? :) Yes, this is great. I love the nostalgic feel of the picture.
And Koshi looks so sexy in this picture 8D
*He is always sexy :D*
I should make one for Tak also,
but I can't find anything similar to this one D:
This one is something I made together with the display picture. I want to use it as my signature picture but it is simply too large
to be one D:
この手をとって走り出して means "Hold (your) hand and walk forward" Sorry for my crappy translation...D:

幻の命/世界の終わり
As an ultimate (self-claimed) J-POP fan, I will want to start this kind of recommendation program in my blog, Main purpose is to: 1) Increase people's knowledge on J-POP, J-POP is not just about Visual Kei, but still many other stuff which I think are worth my time. 2) Sharing and exchanging. If you think there are some very nice songs that you want to share, tell me okay! And I will listen, and maybe write a short review (In Chinese preferably) for you :) Although I think no one will support this since this blog is sort of private or known within my social circle (AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, J-POP IS SUCH A MINORITY IN SINGAPORE DAMN)
===========
Okay, let's get started.
I will start with this band which had just debuted not so long time ago. The name is 世界の終わり, which means the End Of The World. I came across them when I was browsing through WHAT's IN? last week, I read the album review, kinda interested thus I decided to check them out yeah. I ain't disappointed at all, in fact, surprised. Their music is such a perfect combination of Techno and Rock, and they really make full use of the instruments. The lyrics are really enjoyable to read as well, at first without the lyrics (Sorry I suck in listening compre) I thought the song is going to talk about something optimistic, however, the lyrics turned out to be the opposite.
"白い病院で「死んだ」僕達の子供は 「もうこの世界にはいない」のに何で何も感じないんだろう" This part really makes me think that the song is about life and death LOL.
So I hope you enjoy this song. If anything to correct me on, feel free to tag me!
